Monschau became a wealthy town in the 18th century when the textile industry was at its peak. One of the rich traders Johann Heinrich Scheibler ordered this house to be built to show Monshau’s wealth. Downstairs, the most luxurious sheets of Europe were made, while upstairs, the Schreiber family lived in abundance. The home was restored and can now be visited in its old state, so you can literally travel through time and find out all about the life, work, and habits of Monschau 250 years ago!
