Jeffrey’s Bay has a lot of places to eat and drink, and you may easily be overwhelmed. After having lived in JBay for multiple months, these are the best restaurants and coffeeshops in Jeffrey’s Bay! For more tips on what to do in Jeffrey’s Bay, check out our blog post!
Best Restaurants in Jeffrey’s Bay
Nina’s Real Food
If you want very affordable but great food, you should head to Nina’s Real Food. They serve seafood, traditional cuisine, and Western meals, for low prices. You can come here all day, for breakfast, lunch or dinner. On their nice terrace, you can take in the South African sunrays while sipping from your cup of coffee. They also deliver!
J-Bay Bru Co
Then, there is J-Bay Bru Co. This is an artisan family restaurant, with a very open and big seating area. They also have a craft beer garden and even sell their own brew, Eskimo Lager, named after their dog and mascot. The outside seating area gives a street food vibe with a beautifully decorated tuk-tuk on the side and heaters for colder evenings. On the menu are pizzas, burgers, wraps, and any breakfast and lunch item you can think of. Usually, they have good deals on specific days of the week (like 2-for-1 pizzas on Tuesday and half-price burgers on Thursday). Opened for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, this place is a must-go.
Upscale Restaurants in Jeffrey’s Bay
For fancier although still budget-friendly restaurants, JBay also has enough to offer. Delicious fresh seafood is served at De Viswijf and Kitchen Windows Beach Restaurant and for some Mexican, Latin- and South American food, a place called ‘The Mexican’ is your amigo (it’s also a great cocktail bar!).
Best Coffee Places In Jeffrey’s Bay
Although South Africa is not particularly known for its coffee production, Jbay has enough coffee to change this reputation. In and around Jbay Surf Village, you can enjoy the best coffee and pastries in town. Coffee Society and Infood Coffee Roastery have the same owner and are only spit apart by the street, offering you coffee, tea, and smoothies. At both places, you can sit down for breakfast or lunch, besides takeaway coffee. The tacos served at Coffee Society have a special place in my heart.
A few streets inland, there is First Light Coffee Bar. Ironically, I was at First Light for the first time, when there was no light because of loadshedding. Somehow they still had a lot going on! This place is a cute café offering breakfast and lunch, with pastries, (smoothie) bowls and sandwiches.

One response to “The BEST Restaurants and Coffee Shops in Jeffrey’s Bay”
[…] That being said, Jbay (this is the name for locals- but after a few days you’ll never use its’ full name again) has much more to offer than just surfing. In fact, a lot of people visit Jbay and never even get on a surfboard. While that’s something I would surely advise against, surely don’t forget to explore all the other cool activities this paradise has to offer. No matter the length of your stay, you will always run out of time to enjoy everything. For the best restaurants and coffeeshops, check out our other blog post! […]
